Nanny in Canada

A Nanny is a professional childcare provider who lives in Canada with a Host Family. A nanny has professional qualifications and experience or has Au Paired in another country for at least a year. Nannies provide child care services in exchange for room, board, a month salary, and lots of other benefits. Most Nannies participate in this program for the valuable cultural experience of living with a Canadian family and they are treated more as a member of the family than as an employee.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • A nanny’s foremost responsibility is to provide quality care and supervision
  • for the employer’s child or children.
  • Take the children to school, play dates and pick them up
  • Prepare meals for the kids
  • Help kids with homework
  • Assist with general child-related chores, such as laundry, tidying the children’s bedrooms and play areas
  • Work for 40-44 hours a week
  • You might be asked to do light house cleaning (vacuuming, load dishes in dishwasher, make beds etc)
  • You might be asked to do shopping for the family

Requirements

  • You must be 18-35 years old (be in Canada before your 36th birthday)
  • Have Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Understand and speak English and/or French
  • Have professional childcare qualifications and experience OR has Au Paired
  • for at least 1 year in another country
  • Have a love for kids
  • Be caring
  • Agree to commit for at least 1 year
  • Non-smoker
  • Be in good health
  • Unmarried and no kids of your own
  • South African citizenship
  • No criminal record

Process

We meet for our interview and discuss all the questions. We give you all the documents you need in order to complete your portfolio and go over all documents needed. Everything will be explained to you in detail and if you have any questions we go over it. The profile fee for the documentation and profile assistance is payable.

Once you got all the needed documents together and completed the application forms you hand it back to us in person, per post or email.
Upon receipt of the documents, our head office go through your portfolio and send it through to the office in Canada. The 2nd fee is payable at this stage. Your profile will be entered into our partners’ online database and you will be matched with a Canadian family. Families will Skype with you once or twice and ask you questions to make sure you are the right Au Pair for their family. Once you’ve matched with a family then the matching fee is due.
We organize the visa appointment for you at the Canadian embassy.
