Au Pair Switzerland

The Au Pair position consists of childcare related duties, such as playing with the children, making their meals and cleaning the kitchen, cleaning up their rooms, doing their laundry, walking with them to school or activities, etc. Beside this, an Au Pair may be asked for small housekeeping duties such as helping out with the washing, shopping, or light cleaning in the house. The working hours for an Au Pair are at least up to 30 hours per week.

What is an Au Pair?

  • An Au Pair is a big Sister/Brother who lives in Switzerland as an extended member of their Host Family.
  • These young women provide child care services in exchange for room, board, a monthly salary, and contributions towards education.
Most au pairs participate in the Au Pair Program for the valuable cultural experience of living with a Swiss family and are treated more as a member of the family then an employee.

Au Pair Requirements:

  • You must be 18-25 years old.
  • Have Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Have some child care experience.
  • Understand and speak English.
  • Love kids, be caring.
  • Have patience.
  • Agree to commit for one full year.
  • Be in Good Health
  • Drivers license not mandatory

Au Pair Responsibilities:

  • Take the kids to school, play dates and pick them up.
  • Prepare meals for the kids.
  • Help prepare the kids for the days activities.
  • Assist with general child-related chores, such as laundry, tidying the children’s bedrooms and play areas.
  • Work for 30 hours a week.
  • Help kids with homework.
  • If it is a baby, general baby care (diapers, bottle etc)
  • Light housework.
  • You may also be asked to baby-sit one to two evenings per week.

What is included in the Au Pair programme:

  • Basic Medical Insurance.
  • A monthly wage of 700 Swiss Franc.
  • 2 Weeks paid vacation during your year.
  • You have your own personal room and often a private bathroom.
  • You go to school at least 3 hours per week to learn a new language and during your free time, you can enjoy your favourite hobby, do sports, travel and meet new friends!
  • Full support througout your years stay.

Process

We meet for our interview and discuss all the questions. We give you all the documents you need in order to complete your portfolio and go over all documents needed. Everything will be explained to you in detail and if you have any questions we go over it. The profile fee for the documentation and profile assistance is payable.

Once you got all the needed documents together and completed the application forms you hand it back to us in person, per  or email.
Upon receipt of the documents, our head office go through your portfolio and send it through to the office in Switzerland. The 2nd fee  is payable at this stage. Your profile will be entered into our partners’ online database and you will be matched with a Swiss family.  Families will Skype with you once or twice and ask you questions to make sure you are the right Au Pair for their family.

Once you’ve matched with a family then the matching fee is due.
We organize the visa appointment for you at the Swiss embassy.
